I need to find the area of this shape.
I know I can decompose it into little rectangles so that is what I have done. I am going to upload the picture and then I'll post the work that I have done so you can correct it or give a tip.

I divided the shape into 3 rectangles
a,b and c

DIMENSIONS FOR a
l=14
h=3
Area= l⋅w
=14⋅3
42∈2

rectangle b
dimensions
l=24 in
h=8 in
= area=24 ⋅8
=192∈2

and then c,
l=17 in
w=5 in
=area 85∈2

now adding up all areas
19+42+85(∈)
=146∈2

is this correct?

24⋅8+14⋅3+17⋅5=319

Instead of 19 you must use 192. The 2 is missing although correctly calculated before.
